About this exhibition catalogue

Heidi Bucher (*1926 Winterthur, † 1993 Brunnen, Switzerland) is not only an important artist of the international neo-avant-gardes, but also one who deserves to be rediscovered. With her performative work, she directed the viewer’s gaze to the body in space, onto which experiences, relationships, and emotions are inscribed. By means of latex skinnings, performed with enormous physical exertion, she transferred psychological processes onto the material. For the first time, Bucher’s pivotal groups of works are presented together in one volume: from her beginnings in Switzerland to the experimental period in New York and California in the early 1970s, as well as the subsequent main body of work with the architectural skinnings to the late creative phase on the island of Lanzarote.

Unfortunately, the English version of the exhibition catalogue is no longer available.
