Since Monday, 11 May 2020, Haus der Kunst is open to visitors again. We are pleased to welcome you again to our exhibitions. On this page you will find detailed information about your visit, the current protection and hygiene measures and how to buy tickets.
Hygiene and conduct regulations
In coordination with the responsible authorities, Haus der Kunst has developed comprehensive protection and hygiene measures to make your visit as pleasant but also as safe as possible. They help to contain the coronavirus and are intended to protect you and our staff from infection. For the benefit of all, please only visit the Haus der Kunst if you feel healthy. If you feel ill or have had contact with a Covid-19 patient in the last few days, please refrain from visiting. In Haus der Kunst there is a mask obligation and a minimum distance of 2 meters. Please avoid group formation and pay attention to the new guidance system. We hope you will understand if our staff also draws your attention to these rules. Please make regular use of the disinfectant provided. The entrance and exit to the Haus der Kunst have been separated to avoid congestion. The exit is now at the back of the building. Visitors with reduced mobility can contact our staff to leave the building at the front.
You can purchase admission tickets with a time slot via our website. This makes it easier for us to control the total number of visitors allowed in the building.

This also includes protection by wearing a mask. If you do not have a mask with you, you can purchase a disposable mask at the museum's ticket office.
The Haus der Kunst is currently offering a reduced day ticket for visiting all exhibitions. 10 € / reduced 8 € / 5 € for pupils and students / children under 12 years of age continue to have free admission. Single tickets for exhibitions are currently not available. Time slot tickets for your visit can be purchased online via our website or purchased directly at the museum box office (limited contingent). If you purchase your ticket directly at the museum box office, you must expect waiting times, as only a limited number of visitors may be in the building at the same time. To the online shop.
As always your annual card gives you free admission to all exhibitions in Haus der Kunst.
Annual cards valid until 11 May 2020 or later remain valid for two months longer. The tickets do not have to be exchanged.
Annual cards that expired during the closing time (13 March 2020 to 10 May 2020) remain valid until 13 June 2020.
New annual cards that are only issued after the reopening are valid for one year from the date of the exhibition or the date of request.
Extension of the exhibition duration
The duration oft he exhibition, which have not been open to the public since the museum’s closure, will be extended to make them accessible to the public for longer.
„Franz Erhard Walther. Shifting Perspectives“ extended until 29 November 2020.
„Theaster Gates: Black Chapel“ extended until 16 August 2020.
„Brainwashed. Sammlung Goetz im Haus der Kunst“ extended until 16 August 2020.
As usual, the Haus der Kunst is open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm Sammlung Goetz at Haus der Kunst is always open Thursdays to Sundays.
Until further notice, we can not offer guided group tours, as the rules of distance must be observed and group formation among visitors should be avoided
An extensive digital offer offers the possibility to prepare for the exhibitions or to deepen the impressions after the visit. You can find an overview of our digitial offers here.
As an education offer we provide you with our audio guides. You can use your own headphones for this purpose or purchase a low-priced headphone at our cash desk. If you have any concerns about hygiene when using the audio guide, you can also use the digital audio tour on your own mobile phone in the exhibition. You can find the audio tours here.
Until further notice, no events can take place at the Haus der Kunst. We will keep you informed about news and digital event formats via the newsletter and our social media channels as well as via the website.
The Golden Bar offers drinks and snacks to take away on the terrace when the weather is fine. Current information will be published here and on Golden Bar's Facebook page.
Bookshop Walther König
The Walther König bookshop will also be open again from 11 May 2020, daily from 12am to 6 pm. The exhibition catalogue for "Franz Erhard Walther. Shifting Perspectives" is now available.
