About The Gaze into the Dark — Artist lecture by Adele Röder%

In her presentation for the Capsule 04 exhibition, Adele Röder presents "O L Y M P I A, or: Message from the Dark Room", a series of works in which she explores body language as both an archaic and immediate form of expression, whose importance seems to be diminishing with the increasing digitalization of today's world. Röder's interest in the body — as the interface between the subject and the surrounding environment — as well as her investigation of immateriality and abstraction, assume a concrete, figurative form here: the series is based on a number of drawings of body postures and details. As slide projections or neon tube configurations, for Adele Röder the figures are the result of daily observations as well as models for the reclamation of the body as a medium of social exchange.

In her lecture, the artist speaks about her research and the precursor projects of "O L Y M P I A, or: Message from the Dark Room". She thus develops her vision for social changes and shows how these may be implemented in everyday life, with art functioning as a possible guide. The lecture provides insight into a conceptual cosmos that is closely linked to the current exhibition in Haus der Kunst.
