Zufit Simon - Power to the people. Use your body- use your voice - make a choice
Contemporary Dance
Resistance in public space through the full use of the body, and choreographed protest, have become powerful tools of peaceful demonstration within capitalist democracies. "Radical Cheerleading", developed in the 1990s by queer-feminist activists, blends non-violent direct action with theatrical performance. While drawing on the visual language of cheerleading, the style subverts its codes to deliver its own messages. Glitter, glamour, and a mix of slogans come together in this joyful, ironic alternative to militant protest.
Zufit Simon is a choreographer and performer who has lived in Germany for 25 years. Her works have won multiple awards and have been presented at the renowned Tanzplattform Deutschland. In 2025, she will receive the Munich Dance Award. In works such as Radical Cheerleading and Bodies in Rebellion, she explores the body as a medium of protest. Simon performs in all of her pieces, with a sharp eye for the complexity of bodily expression.

Serhat „Saïd“ Perhat - Beyond the Break. A new Perspective on Breaking
Breakdance
In this workshop with Saïd, everything revolves around the art of breaking. Whether you’re a beginner or already have some experience, you’ll get to learn the fundamentals – including freezes, flow, and dynamic transitions. The focus is on breaking out of habitual movement patterns and finding your own style. You’ll also explore how to integrate breaking elements into your dance practice and expand your range of expression. Come join us, have fun, and discover what your body is capable of!
Serhat Perhat, aka "Saïd", is a Munich-based breakdancer of Uyghur heritage. For over 16 years, he has been performing at international battles and continuously evolving his style. In 2025, he will debut as a choreographer at Munich’s Volkstheater. Saïd merges traditional breaking with contemporary influences, bringing fresh interpretations to productions like Dido and Aeneas and Apache. His unique style pushes the boundaries of breaking, placing it in new creative contexts while staying rooted in its origins.

Black Pearl - Fem (with) me
EU Runway/Ballroom
Step into the world of ballroom with Black Pearl in this workshop focusing on the European Runway – a style inspired by the ballroom scene of New York. The emphasis lies on a strong, expressive, and feminine walk – with skills, poses, and spins that centre the performance of femininity. Open to all regardless of gender, identity, background, or experience, this session especially welcomes LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC participants to be part of a space that celebrates authenticity and self-expression.
We’ll start with a warm-up and a short introduction to ballroom history, followed by technique, poses, and a short choreography. Don’t forget to bring your heels – they’ll make every step unforgettable. Come as you are – whether in your best training gear or your most fabulous look.
Black Pearl de Almeida Lima was born in Brazil in 1994 and is now based in Germany. Her artistic practice spans dance, choreography, film, teaching, and fashion. A member of the ballroom community, she walks in the categories of EU Runway and Vogue Fem, as part of the House of Brownies and the House of Saint Laurent. Her short film PEARL premiered on NOWNESS in 2024, and Just Love, a queer dance project set to Ravel’s Boléro, will debut in 2025. Across all her work, Black Pearl advocates for the visibility and empowerment of marginalised identities.
