This audiovisual choreography is a co-creation by artist Kianí del Valle in collaboration with a symbiotic AI dance ensemble developed by Hamill Industries. Del Valle’s dance is guided by the interdependence of physical exhaustion, intuitive groove, ritualistic practices, migrational journeys, and paranormal experiences. Watching her move can be akin to staring into a fire. For AI Transmutations, del Valle collaborated with Hamill Industries, a creative studio engaging with new media technologies to explore concepts from nature and the wider cosmos. Together with del Valle, the studio’s practitioners captured her movements and used them to train an ensemble of digital AI “dancers” that accompany her live choreography.
Developing a pre-symbolic and non-discursive relation with the machine, del Valle aims at generating ecstatic states which overcome the boundaries of the individual subject in an attempt to connect with things around her that are not material.
The performance was originally commissioned by Sónar in 2021 and developed with Hamill Studios. The version presented at Haus der Kunst will be a refined and adapted version of this performance. Music by Floating Points.
Following the performance AI Transmutations, the artists Kianí del Valle, Anna Diaz (Hamill Industries) and Delia Beatriz (DEBIT)will discuss their individual approach to machine learning within the projects presented during Echoes. The conversation will be led by curator Sarah Johanna Theurer.
The performance is part of ECHOES, a live programme of performances. It takes place over the three days of 21-23.7.23.

You can pick up your ECHOES pass at the Haus der Kunst box office on your first visit to ECHOES by presenting your online ticket. So please plan some extra time for this.
