Event overview

Since 1980, the publisher, artist and art educator Hubert Kretschmer has been collecting and archiving artists’  books and publications. His archive in Munich’s Türkenstraße now contains 50,000 items of diverse media by artists from 176 countries.

From October 2018 to June2019, the Archiv Künstlerpublikationen (Archive Artist Publications) will be the “archives in residence” in Haus der Kunst’s  Archive Gallery. The exhibition marks the beginning of a series of presentations exhibiting  independent archives and discussing issues concerning the relationship between archive, history and its representation.

The evening begins in the Archive Gallery in Haus der Kunst, where Sabine Brantl leads visitors through the exhibition she curated. Afterwards, Hubert Kretschmer provides insights into his archival microcosm - the participants can expect to partake in interesting discussions and see extraordinary publications, which they may leaf through.

With Hubert Kretschmer publisher, artist and art educator and Sabine Brantl, Curator Archive and Head of Learning, Haus der Kunst   The event takes place in Haus der Kunst and in the Archiv Künstlerpublikationen, Türkenstraße 60/ UG (basement)

The number of participants is limited.
