Info

The live exhibition “ECHOES. Plot Twist” explores the intersections of the digital and the body, seeking new ways to connect, communicate, and create meaning in a digitalised world. Over four days of music, conversations, and performances, “Plot Twist” delves into the dynamics of human and non-human communication.

Friday, 31.1.25

6.30 pm | Hanne Lippard & Laurel Halo. Sour Loop. Talk

Hanne Lippard and Laurel Halo present a new work as part of TUNE, called Sour Loop, which traces iterative music around a voice, to form a mutual recontextualization in one awakening, refreshing, clarifying, acidic loop. The collaborative composition accentuates the terrace hall with its tangy acoustics, aiming to catch the listeners fleeting attention in an otherwise transitory space.

7 pm | Rully Shabara. Concert

On Friday, the second day of ECHOES, there will also be an experimental concert led by renowned vocalist Rully Shabara. Joined by local musicians Matthieu Bordenave (saxophone and clarinet), Simon Popp (drums and percussion), and a surprise guest, Shabara engages in an improvised musical dialogue with his Xhabarabot.

8.15 | Rully Shabara. Talk

Following the concert, a conversation with Shabara will take place. He will introduce his Xhabarabot, a multi-faceted project that explores the idea of digital entity including the Voice Machines which he trained to incorporate his unique aesthetics as well as elements of non-western approach in digital music making. We will discuss data as the language of the machine, synthetic feelings, and bots as extensions to human expression.

8.45 pm | Pavel Milyakov & Martyna Basta. Concert

Martyna Basta and Pavel Milyakov, who previously collaborated on the track Moon Chant for Milyakov’s recent album release, will perform together for the first time. The two share a fascination for raw, atmospheric textures and unpredictable “plot twists”. Their performance could be described as a sonic diary – hypnotic and contemplative. Both artists find significance and beauty in decay, impermanence, and change.

9.45 pm | Laurel Halo. DJ set

Laurel Halo, who in addition to her reputation as a versatile composer is also a radio and club DJ, will close the night. Halo has collaborated with Hanne Lippard on the TUNE Terrace Hall commission, which will be inaugurated during the weekend of “ECHOES. Plot Twist.”
