11am Screening Tlamess at Theatiner Filmkunst
3pm Artist Talk with Abdullah Miniawy at Haus der Kunst
“My mentality flipped 180 degrees when I saw my mom looking at the sea through her burqa, helpless and unable to connect to her pure instinct. This specific choke was my everyday fuel to scream.” Abdullah Miniawy
Abdullah Miniawy is an Egyptian writer, chanter, composer and actor, whose astonishingly multifarious artistic work is "an expression of religion, revolution and freedom". In 2017 he was forced to leave Egypt by the oppressive regime of Al-Sisi and became a political figure after his poetry was spread around the region in Al Yarmouk, a camp in Syria, Tunisia and other countries during the Arab spring. In 2021 he was chosen by the European parliament in Strasbourg as one of three Changemakers based in the Schengen area to present a French-Egyptian artist perspective on today's crucial challenges at the European Youth Event and invited as one of 30 diverse speakers to the European summit "Europe takes part!".
As a part of his Tune residency the award winning Tunisian feature film Tlamess, directed by Alaadine Slim, will be shown on Sunday 5th December, 11am, by KINO DER KUNST at the Theatiner Filmkunst. Miniawy plays the lead role in the film and was nominated for the best actor award by the Arab Cinema Center in Cannes, and the film was given the main award by KINO DER KUNST in 2020.
Later in the afternoon at 3pm, audiences are invited to come to the Haus der Kunst for an artist talk.
Admission information for Theatiner Filmkunst will be posted on the website:
