For 65 years, the Münchner Bücherschau has celebrated books and reading every November. As the largest book exhibition in Bavaria, it invites visitors to explore new releases and bestsellers from a wide range of publishers.
The selection includes new novels, thrillers, fantasy, New Adult, manga, and comics, as well as Bavarica titles, current non-fiction, art books, and an extensive children’s and young adult section. There is something for readers of all ages. Visitors can mark their favourites with book wish cards.
Every evening offers the opportunity to discover new books and relevant topics. At events, visitors can meet bestselling authors such as Robert Harris, Volker Kutscher, and Melanie Raabe. Whether delving into the future with science fiction, traveling to Japan with Jan-Philipp Sendker, or exploring the current Austrian literary scene with Buchkultur magazine, each evening provides new perspectives. Current issues such as the war in Gaza and its impacts, the significance of human rights, the education debate, and an East German utopia of society are also discussed.
The family programme includes journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim introducing young children to the joy of knowledge, Paul Maar leading a search for the Mini-Sams, and a presentation of the 100 best children’s and young adult books.
Additionally, the popular NDR book podcast eat.READ.sleep will be recorded live on stage at the Münchner Bücherschau.
The Münchner Bücherschau is free to attend and open daily from 8 am to 10 pm. Access is via the west entrance of Haus der Kunst.
