The “Exhibition of Exhibitions” on the walls of the southeast staircase expands and continues the historical documentation in the Archiv Galerie. Conceived as a walk-in chronicle, this exhibition display offers visitors a comprehensive overview of the exhibitions organised by Haus der Kunst since the 1990s. It invites you to experience the transformation of Haus der Kunst as a key global centre for contemporary art.
The Stiftung Haus der Kunst München, gemeinnützige Betriebsgesellschaft mbH was established in 1992, and operates with a model of public and private funding. To this day, Haus der Kunst has organised more than 300 exhibitions, including numerous legendary projects with artists that shaped an ongoing process of change: new lines in art history, inventive curatorial approaches and ambitious display concepts, all reimagined from new perspectives and expanded in both content and forms.
This chronicle was conceived with the continuous archiving work of the history and programmes of Haus der Kunst. It creates the basis for a multi-layered reflection, which goes beyond the institution’s own history, consisting the vision of critically reflection of the past and the present for looking into the future.
