Today, 1 April 2020, is the first official workday of our new artistic director, Andrea Lissoni. Because of the current situation in society as a whole, our institution is closed to visitors and most of our employees. Thus, this inaugural day has not turned out quite as planned. We, therefore, are all the more excited about the time when our current digital collaboration becomes a personal cooperation and we can once again welcome our visitors on site.
“It is both reassuring and exciting to witness the machine functioning so impeccably in such a tumultuous moment,” Andrea Lissoni said about the present situation. “We will definitely do our best to ensure that we will be sharing the beautiful exhibitions we opened with the public.” Andrea Lissoni was most recently at Haus der Kunst in early March for the opening of the exhibition “Franz Erhard Walther. Shifting Perspectives.” Together with the artist, he participated in the “Werkaktivierungen” (work activations). “I left Munich with an unbelievable sense of excitement,” he declared following the visit, “full of pride and curiosity for the many fundamental paths in art and collective behavior to be explored together with pleasure and curiosity. I would like everyone in Munich, in the state of Bavaria and from abroad to experience such a feeling, too.”
We wholeheartedly endorse these sentiments and wishes. “I am delighted that Andrea Lissoni’s inauguration today completes the new HdK team,” stated Wolfgang Orthmayr, Commercial Director of Haus der Kunst.
Dear Andrea Lissoni, welcome to Munich and welcome to Haus der Kunst - we look forward to a new start soon.
